Position Program Assistant (Tablet Program)
Salary $22.88 – $25.25 per hour
Reports to Program Coordinator
Status Part-Time; 10 Hours/Week, Non-Exempt

POSITION DESCRIPTION

CYC (Community Youth Center of San Francisco) provides free community tablet class to San Francisco’s monolingual resident’s response. The program’s outcome objectives will be to ensure populations are provided with increased education and awareness of the need to prepare for a seismic event, and that a high number of stakeholders actively attend and/or participate in earthquake safety trainings, workshops, and/or events within their respective service area and be provided with informational materials that will prepare them for a seismic or natural disaster and an understanding of what to do in the immediate aftermath. The Program Specialist supports the planning and implementation of advocacy efforts for and by a team of young multicultural peer leaders, develops intensive leadership development training and service learning projects, produces educational materials in different languages, outreaches to youth and parents through educational workshops, builds working partnership with other community based organizations and city departments, and develops solution driven recommendations to create safer communities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Engage in planning and development of educational curriculum and presentations for beginner, intermediate, advanced smartphone devices/tablets.
  • Outreach and provide referral and linkages to residents, community organizations, schools and merchants
  • Attend community fairs/activities, community initiatives, collaborative meetings in outreaching
  • In charge of residents sign up to monthly cohorts via phone calls
  • Enable to facilitate tablet class during all cohorts and supervise team of youth to enable them to do 1 on 1 with the participants
  • Prepare program documentation and reports
  • Other duties as assigned by management

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • High School graduates or GED
  • Ability to work with ethnically diverse groups of low-income youth
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, organize, and implement programs.
  • Experience building effective partnerships with schools, community based organizations, funders and employer partners.
  • Possess good interpersonal, organizational, conflict mediation, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work with ethnically diverse groups of low-income youth as well as English Language Learners to support their social and emotional learning and development.
  • Good technology skills (familiar with Google docs & sheets, Excel, etc.)
  • Capacity to multi-task, work independently, and meet strict programmatic deadlines.
  • Ability to model to staff and participants: professionalism, personal responsibility, a strong work ethic and positive character.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Bilingual in Cantonese/Mandarin and English is preferred.
  • Willingness to work some evenings and weekends.
  • Able to lift or move at least 25lbs.
  • Commitment to taking regular Covid-19 health tests as required by program health and safety guidelines and/or current health directives.
