Position Program Specialist (Young Asian Women Against Violence)
Salary $22.00 – $26.00/hour
Reports to Program Coordinator (Leadership Development)
Status Full Time; Non-Exempt


The Leadership Development Component encompasses workshops, peer leader training, service learning and youth led events, and action plans to enhance and increase awareness of community issues. The Program Specialist will support Young Asian Women Against Violence (YAWAV). YAWAV is committed to prevent violence against Asian girls and young women, particularly dating /domestic violence and sexual assault. Along with the Project Coordinator, the Program Specialist will support a team of young Asian women peer leaders (ages 15-18) as they participate in intensive training, produce multilingual educational materials, outreach and educate schools and communities. This program strengthens the resilience, pride, knowledge, and skills of young API women to outreach and educate communities on violence against women and girls.


  • Develop workshops and activities that engage youth to learn through hands-on activities to build high quality life skills, resiliency, growth mindset, and peer leadership
  • Develop curriculum that exposes youth to community engagement, allyship, and youth voice as a way to create positive social change
  • Support youth-led projects that include critical analysis, planning, design and reflection to empower the community through action plans, service learning projects, and youth summits
  • Attend appropriate conferences and events with peer leaders
  • Outreach and build relationships with community organizations to collaborate on community projects
  • Prepare program documentation and reports
  • Other duties as assigned by management


  • Two years experience working with diverse populations of youth and young adults
  • Bachelor’s degree in related fields
  • Commitment to youth and development of their leadership potential
  • Experience in advocacy, leadership development, and mentorship
  • Strong group management and facilitation skills preferred
  • Bilingual/ biliterate in English and an Asian language
  • Excellent organizational and presentation skills
  • Knowledgeable of San Francisco’s Asian and Pacific Islander communities
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends
  • Commitment to taking regular Covid-19 health tests as required by program health and safety guidelines and/or current health directives.
  • Ability to complete Covid-19 vaccination requirement unless the individual qualifies for an exemption due to a disability or religious reason. (Exemptions must be approved by H.R.)
