CYC is a leader and visible community partner in Chinatown, known for our many events and activities that benefit the community. CYC also helps youth who are local to Chinatown gain valuable work experience through the Mayor’s Youth Employment and Education program.

Chinatown is the heart of the local Chinese community, with irreplaceable resources for new immigrants, and Chinese families and businesses with long histories in San Francisco. The neighborhood also has very high density and a larger percentage of seniors than other neighborhoods in the city.

Our work in Chinatown
CYC collaborates closely with many anchor institutions in Chinatown, including the Chinatown YMCA, City College, Chinatown Community Development Center, and with many Chinatown merchants who participate in our events as sponsors and vendors.
CYC participates every year in the Chinatown Springtime Festival, Summer Saturdays on Waverly, Halloween Festival, Lunar New Year Parade, and Autumn Festival.
CYC’s Power Wash Mobile Team are in Chinatown early morning and late at night, keeping the streets hygienic and safe while CYC SF Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) Ambassadors direct traffic around the Central Subway construction and ensure everyone gets to their destination.
