Chinatown
CYC is a leader and visible community partner in Chinatown, known for our many events and activities that benefit the community.
Chinatown is the heart of the local Chinese community, with irreplaceable resources for new immigrants, and Chinese families and businesses with long histories in San Francisco. This unique neighborhood also has very high density and a larger percentage of seniors than other neighborhoods in the city.

Nurturing community
CYC collaborates closely with many anchor institutions in Chinatown, including the Chinatown YMCA, City College, Chinatown Community Development Center, and with many Chinatown merchants who participate in our events as sponsors and vendors.
CYC serves the neighborhood via its Chinatown branch office, located at the historic Willie “Woo Woo” Wong Playground, open from 10 PM to 6 PM Monday through Friday. Our MYEEP and Table Tennis programs, Community Tablet Classes, and Community Workshops are all offered at this location. We also offer drop-in referral services for Youth Development, Translation, Digital Assistance, Housing, Med-Cal, CalFresh/Food Stamps, and Transportation.
Celebrating community
On behalf of the city, CYC offers a series of annual community events on Waverly, including the Chinatown Springtime Festival, Craving Chinatown, and Halloween Festival, and participates actively in the annual Chinatown Lunar New Year Parade and Autumn Moon Festival. These events are vital to the cultural and economic life of Chinatown.

Protecting the community
CYC’s visible and beloved Power Wash Mobile Team is on the streets in Chinatown early morning and late at night, keeping the streets hygienic and offering valuable employment opportunities.
Via the Coalition for Community Safety and Justice program, CYC offers vital and timely community safety training and support services for victims of hate crimes.
