Henry Ha
Henry’s journey with Community Youth Center (CYC) began in 1998 as a program participant at Benjamin Franklin Middle School, and later at Galileo High School, where he led a youth sports program and served as a CYC volunteer. After graduation, he interned as a case manager at CYC, supporting high-risk youth, and later took on roles as a program assistant for workforce development and a street outreach worker focusing on gang violence prevention.
In his years as a youth and family counselor, Henry excelled in teaching, leadership, and event planning. His passion for dragon boat led him to coach San Francisco’s only public youth team, providing at-risk youth transformative opportunities and life experiences. He also founded a dragon boat team for CYC staff and parents. In his many roles, he has consistently been a champion for youth leadership, and a remarkable leader in his own right.
Now serving as Director for the Coalition for Community Safety and Justice (CCSJ), Henry continues to positively impact youth and families in San Francisco, applying his skills and expertise in service of community safety, connectedness, and equity.
