A new chapter and new look for CYC

As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of Community Youth Center in 2020, we are unveiling a new visual brand to capture our excitement about our history and our future.

Starting today, you will see the new brand here on the website and across all our communications. We wanted this new visual identity to preserve everything we love about who we are today (including our colors!) but also reflect our expanding embrace of the San Francisco community, and the boldness and positivity we see in our youth, their families, and our many supporters.

Our logo says a lot about us:

  • The arms of the Y are like an embrace from a trusted friend, evoking a sense of safety and community.
  • The echo of the C shapes with each other — and with the Y — creates a sense of unity (and reflects our ability to see things differently).

As we say here on our new website: Youth are the center of our community. Working with them every day is both a responsibility and a privilege. Thank you for sharing this journey with us.

FAQs

  1. Why is CYC updating its visual look?

Our 50th anniversary year gives us a unique moment to take stock of where we’ve been and where we’re going. We think this new logo and visual system will help us tell a clearer, more exciting, and more consistent story to the outside world.

  2. Is the CYC name changing?

Our name, locations, staff, and programs are all staying the same.

  3. What else is CYC doing to mark its 50th anniversary?

We’re excited today to begin ticket sales for our 50th anniversary gala which will be held in March of this year. In the coming months, we also will have rolling updates about our new community hub in the Richmond. And, early in 2020, we will share an annual report celebrating the impact of our programs and telling deeper stories about the youth and families we’re honored to work with every day.
