Join us in Chinatown for “Summer on Waverly”

CYC will be hosting our annual “Summer on Waverly” event this Saturday, June 24, 2023 from 11am to 3pm at Waverly Place (between Sacramento Street and Clay Street). The “Summer on Waverly” celebration in the heart of Chinatown will be filled with fun activities for the entire family. This year’s event will feature immersive VR games, a tricycle obstacle course, and carnival games for younger children.

Mayor London Breed recently celebrated “Summer on Waverly” as the first of a series of marquee cultural events and family activities this summer and fall in Chinatown to attract residents and visitors to the neighborhood and strengthen its economic recovery by making it a destination for food, music, and entertainment

“We greatly appreciate the Community Youth Center for leading the ‘Summer on Waverly’ event, kick-starting the summer break for our local youth,” said Office of Economic Workforce and Development Senior Project Manager Kitty Fong. “As part of our commitment to community economics development, the Office of Economic and Workforce Development is proud to sponsor and partner with CYC to bring joy and entertainment to the youth while boosting foot traffic within our community. This event reflects our ongoing efforts to promote community engagement and create a vibrant summer filled with fun and meaningful connections.”

CYC Executive Director Sarah Wan said, “Chinatown has historically been a neighborhood built on resiliency. I remember how quiet these streets were during the pandemic, and flash forward to today, the neighborhood is bustling again as it used to. We’re glad to see Mayor Breed continue to invest in Chinatown, and CYC is proud to partner with her and play a vital role in keeping Chinatown vibrant.”
