New mental health series launches May 21

A new Cantonese-language television series focused on mental health will launch on May 21, developed through a partnership between Community Youth Center of San Francisco and Sky Link TV.

The series arrives during Mental Health Awareness Month and Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, a time when conversations about well-being, identity, and community are especially relevant. It creates space for direct, culturally grounded discussion of emotional health, family relationships, crisis response, and pathways to support within the Chinese community.

The program is hosted by Dr. Dennis Chen, Program Director of Behavioral Health at CYC, and co-hosted by Cruz Chan, Clinical Manager of Healing for Asians at RAMS, Inc. Each episode draws on professional experience and community context to address real conditions facing individuals and families.

Weekly episodes will examine areas such as stigma around seeking support, depression, anxiety, attention-related challenges, family expectations, relationship conflict, online harm, and communication across generations. The series also introduces therapeutic approaches and outlines how crisis support systems operate.

Conversations are conducted in Cantonese, with Chinese and English subtitles, and include practical information for individuals and families seeking support or learning how to respond to mental health challenges.

The series begins Thursday, May 21 at 6pm and will air weekly on Sky Link TV Channel 38.2. Episodes will also be available on the Sky Link TV YouTube channel and the CYC YouTube channel.
