Summer Programs 2024

Summer is almost upon us, and we are excited about our upcoming CYC summer programs for elementary, middle, and high school-aged youth. We’ll keep this page current as applications, dates, and other information become available. It’s going to be an amazing summer.

Elementary School Programs

For elementary school students, CYC will offer a summer filled with weekly field trips and hands-on academic activities in the morning involving literacy, math games, and STEAM. Students will also discuss positive change they can related to this year’s theme of nature and ecology.

Dianne Feinstein Elementary School

Middle School Programs

For middle school students, CYC will offer three summer programs open to all youth.

  • Hybrid program: Our hybrid program is an 8-week summer program designed to promote social, communication, and leadership skills through various online and in-person learning opportunities, including weekly field trips.
  • Willie “Woo Woo” Wong program: Our Chinatown program will offer an 8-week summer program. Students will have access to academic support and enrichment classes focused on STEAM, literacy, physical exercise and project based learning.
  • Aptos Beacon Center World Tour Summer Camp: This comprehensive 7-week summer program will encourage skill-building, project based learning, social development, and community-building. Youth can choose from a variety of classes that match their interests and curiosity—e.g., DIY arts, STEM, sports and fitness, arts and recreation, college and career exploration, and academic development. We will offer exciting weekly field trips that offer fun and outdoor adventure.

High School Programs

For high school students, CYC is excited to offer the following 6-week programs this summer for rising 9th graders to rising 12th graders. Dates below are tentative and dependent on school site availability.

  • Balboa Project and SFI Programs: These comprehensive programs will encourage skill-building, project based learning, social development, and community building. Youth will have opportunities to select a combination of academic and enrichment classes such as Writing, College Readiness & Exploration, STEM, Health & Fitness, and DIY Art.
  • CYC College & Career Access Summer Program: This program is designed for AAPI high school students seeking comprehensive insights into college and careers. This program will equip students with the necessary tools for success in the college search and application process, with a focus on personal statements, financial aid, and scholarships. Additionally, the program will offer a Career Access journey, providing youth with opportunities to explore their personal, educational, and career development paths.
  • Youth Justice Collective Summer Program: This program aims to equip high school students with the tools to create positive change in their communities. The Collective will help students grow their analytical and facilitation skills related to social justice issues, while providing tools to explore and understand their own personal identities and community history.

    Through workshops and events, participants will build multiracial solidarity, engage in community conversations, create resource tools, and facilitate agency and awareness in their peers. Come join them in their fight.

CYC College and Career Access Summer Program

Hybrid workshops, in-person college campus tours, in-person career site visits
6/17/24 – 7/26/24 (Orientation is 6/12/24)
Mondays & Wednesdays (2:30pm – 4pm) & Fridays (2pm – 5pm)
Open to rising 9th graders and 12th graders who are Asian American Pacific Islander, live in San Francisco, and are a SFUSD student
Interview required, commitment to all workshops and events
Lunch and snack provided
Cost: $200
