After School Programs at Aptos Beacon Center

After School Programs at Aptos Beacon Center

The CYC Aptos Beacon Center offers comprehensive services that promote social emotional learning, healthy youth development, and family partnerships. A supportive space is created intentionally to build community, teamwork, empathy, and social emotional learning skills and as a result youth in the Aptos Beacon program are prepared to thrive and lead.

Through “Beacon Squads” students build healthy relationships with their peers in which they are free to express themselves, share their personal narratives, learn to work together, and advocate for their communities. Championing youth voices at CYC Aptos Beacon is a theme in our program and wellness services are offered where youth feel empowered to share their struggles, have a trusting and caring adult to go to, and know that their mental health is a priority.

CYC Aptos Beacon program creates opportunities for student exploration, innovation, and creativity, and moments to travel beyond their imaginations. Students can choose a variety of classes that match their interests and challenge their skills—e.g., DIY projects, Kpop, coding, ping pong, skateboarding, art, reading, college and career awareness, STEAM, and fitness. In our Career Awareness Pathway and STEAM programs, youth have a chance to plan for their futures, goal-set, skill-build, and explore new possibilities.
